Raiders 2020 Most Valuable Player: Derek Carr
While the defense struggled mightily this season, Derek Carr kept this offense humming, and finishes up as our Most Valuable Player. In a season where he was looking to silence his critics, Carr proved to be at least a top-10 quarterback, earning the praise and respect of his coaches, and teammates.
Carr finished with over 4,000 passing yards once again, and also had 27 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He threw for over 300 yards in six-of-15 games he started and finished with a QB rating below 80 only once. The one thing Carr needs to improve on next year is his fumbling, as he had 11 fumbles this season, course not all lost, but that is way too many fumbles for any player let alone the franchise quarterback.
The last point I’ll make on Carr is he led the Raiders to five come-from-behind victories this season, but he could have had at least seven. If the Raiders can fix this defense this summer, there is no reason why Carr won’t be completing passes in the playoffs next January.
