Veteran Edge rushers the Las Vegas Raiders should consider
Would the Raiders bring back Denico Autry?
If spending big is out of the question, then why not bring back Denico Autry? The team appears to be losing out on David Irving this offseason, so rather than splurging, sign Autry and have him compete with Crosby. The former Oakland Raider has thrived with the Indianapolis Colts since 2018.
This last season has been his most productive as he was moved over to the edge rather than the inside.
Autry’s numbers also show a bump in production in 2020, he accumulated seven and a half sacks from the outside along with nine tackles for a loss. His total pressures also increased from 2019 to 2020, going from 17 to 22. PFF graded Autry’s pass rush at 66.0 for the 2020 season, down from 68.0 in 2019.
However, as we all know, PFF’s grades aren’t the end all be all for looking at players. Autry can still help shut down the run as you can see in plays such as the one above.
Perhaps, adding Autry can help keep Crosby fresh in games, a rotation of those two could pay dividends under Bradley’s defense. Also, it’s a more realistic option considering the financial straits that the Silver and Black might find themselves in this offseason.
