The Raiders currently have four quarterbacks

So we know Carr isn’t going anywhere, for now, but as of this article’s publishing, the team has four quarterbacks. Back in mid-January, the Raiders signed Kyle Sloter to a reserve/future contract, hence the four signal-callers.

As far as Sloter, he played his collegiate career at Southern Mississipi and has had stops with several NFL teams. Unfortunately, Sloter has yet to play in an NFL game and it’s doubtful he’ll appear in one for the Raiders barring some disastrous injuries.

At this point, Sloter is nothing more than practice squad fodder, if that. We all know Gruden loves to stockpile quarterbacks every offseason so none of this comes as a surprise. The question now becomes what about Marcus Mariota?

Fans and the organization got to see some glimpses of Mariota last season thanks to a groin injury to Carr late in the season. He looked like he had fresh legs, extending plays, and overall, added a level of explosion. Mariota nearly rushed for 100 yards in that game versus the Los Angeles Chargers, throwing for a touchdown in the process too.

Considering the financial constraints the Raiders are in right now with so many expensive contracts on the books, what does the future hold for ‘8’ now?
