Trayvon Mullen – CB

Trayvon Mullen was the only semi-bright spot in the secondary this season. Mullen was up and down during his rookie campaign but finished the 2019 season strong.

This past season, again, he was up and down, but still an average starter at the very least. His interceptions went up from 1 to 2, his deflections up from 10 to 14, and his tackles also went up from 50 to 64.

Mullen gave up 54 of the 85 throws that went his way and finished with a PFF grade of 55.3. That ranks him 84th of the 124 corners graded, which seems way too low, and why PFF is not the end all be all some take it as.

The Clemson product’s play against the run continues to be strong, and PlayerProfiler, a site that like PFF does advanced stats for corners gave him a coverage grade of +22.6, which ranks him #26th in the league, which contradicts PFF’s low grade for him.

In my opinion, his play was in the middle of what those two sites believe. I think there were more than 26 corners better than him but there were definitely not 83 better.

The rest of the Raiders’ secondary struggled, and the pass rush has not been there in either of his first two seasons, so with more help, I believe Mullen can still turn into a solid starter for the Raiders.
