Las Vegas Raiders: 10 free agent safeties to target
Speaking of players who are cheaper options, Malik Hooker from the Indianapolis Colts. Hooker was picked 15th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Ohio State and while he has shown flashes of promise, he has never been healthy enough to really make an impact in the league.
Hooker has never played a full season in the NFL in four years and played in just two games in 2020 after he tore his Achilles. That is the type of injury that really gives you pause because of how vital it is for a player’s explosiveness but he has the pedigree to be an impact player for the Raiders.
In just 35 games, Hooker has seven interceptions and two fumble recoveries, and that ability to make plays and cause turnovers could be just what the doctor ordered for Las Vegas. He will most likely be looking for a deal to prove that he can stay healthy and could take a significant to do so with the Raiders.
There are plenty of red flags due to his injury history but if the Raiders are looking for a possible diamond in the rough they may just find one with Malik Hooker. He is the classic low risk, high reward signing but if the Raiders do end up bringing him in they will most certainly need a backup plan just in case he reverts to his injury-prone ways.
