3. player. 51. . Safety. Los Angeles Rams. John Johnson
John Johnson is next on the list of potential targets for the Raiders and he is especially intriguing because he is only 25 years old and his positional versatility. Johnson was picked in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Boston College, and he has plugged in as a starter just five games into his rookie season.
After getting the start against Seattle in Week 5 of the 2017 season, Johnson grabbed on to that starting spot and never looked back. He has since started at both free safety and strong safety for the Rams, and aside from a difficult 2019 where he only played in six games, has been one of the best safeties in the NFL.
Johnson is a dominant coverage safety and has flashed dynamic playmaking abilities since his rookie season. In 54 games with the Rams, Johnson has eight interceptions, 32 passes defended, and eight tackles for loss.
He also shows plenty of fight in the run game and is a willing tackler, posting two seasons with over 100 combined tackles in his career.
He can play both safety positions and would slot in incredibly well next to Johnathan Abram on the backend of the Raiders defense. The Rams have a glut of talent at the safety position and Johnson is expected to command a contract worth around $13 million a year so he could be convinced to make the short trip up north to Las Vegas.
