Watt would help the Raiders young edge rushers develop
After Jon Gruden arrived back with the Raiders, he promised the fan base that Khalil Mack would be with the team for the 2018 campaign. Well, we all know how that played out, as Mack was traded to the Chicago Bears, and the franchise decided to roll the dice on prospects in the following 2019 NFL Draft.
First, Clelin Ferrell was selected with the No. 4 overall pick, a selection that like a reach now, considering Josh Allen became a legitimate sack guy at the next level, and Devin White just won a Super Bowl. However, Ferrell actually played well this past season, though mostly against the run, and the jury is still out as to whether or not he can be a true double-digit sack producer at the next level.
Fourth-round pick Maxx Crosby certainly showed he can get after the quarterback, and drew plenty of double-teams this past season. In Watt, the Raiders would be getting one of the greatest sack artists of all-time, and someone who could come in and help both Crosby and Ferrell develop into potential Pro Bowl players.
Watt’s contributions would go well beyond the field of play with the Raiders.
