The Las Vegas Raiders have 23 players entering either restricted or unrestricted free agency, so there are going to be some tough choices when it comes to a few players. Most of these players struggled during the 2020 NFL season, and are not expected to be brought back.

There are a ton of places the Raiders need improvement, but the defense is where the most work is needed. As we go through the list of free agents I will give my feelings on whether they will return or not, and we start our list with two special teams players in Daniel Carlson and Trent Sieg.

Raiders 2021 free agents: Special Teams

Raiders K Daniel Carlson, Restricted

Daniel Carlson will most likely return to the Raiders next season, as other than a down 2019 season, Carlson has done pretty well for the Raiders since coming over from the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.  Darren Waller was not the only record-breaker on the team this past season, with Carlson setting the single-season record for points with 144, a mark previously held by fan-favorite Sebastian Janikowski.

I expect Carlson to re-sign with the Raiders even though they protected kicker Dominik Eberle on the practice squad all season long.

Trent Sieg, Restricted

Trent Sieg will most likely be back being that he is the only long snapper on the active roster.  Sieg joined the Raiders in 2018 after being released by the Baltimore Ravens and has earned a one-year contract in each of the two previous offseasons.  I expect a one or two year deal for Sieg to return and keep the continuity going that the team has been building towards these past three years.
