The Las Vegas Raiders are lucky to employ one of the best tight ends in the NFL, as Darren Waller has become an absolute star for the franchise since coming over a few years ago. Waller is widely regarded as possibly the second-best tight end in football and is coming off a season where he broke Tim Brown’s single-season record for receptions while making his first Pro Bowl.

In the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders selected LSU tight end Foster Moreau, a player more known for his blocking than his pass-catching prowess while with the Tigers, In fact, Moreau hauled in only 22 passes in his final season at LSU, so he did not come into the organization with the expectation that he would play a big role in the passing game.

However, Moreau actually proved to be quite the reliable option in the passing game as a rookie, becoming a solid threat in the red zone. Going into Year 2, many expected him to play a bigger role in the offense, but that was quickly vanquished with Jon Gruden’s obsession with playing veteran Jason Witten.

In 2021, Moreau will get his chance to be the true TE2 behind Waller, and we should see quick a rise from the third-year player.

Raiders could have the best 1-2 duo at tight end in 2021

With what we have seen from Moreau, and what we know Waller brings to the table, the Raiders could have one of the better tight end duos in the NFL next season. Both players have to be accounted for in the red zone, and with more snaps, you can expect Moreau to improve in every statistical category.

Remember, this is a kid who hauled in only seven catches last season, but two went for scores, and he averaged 20 yards per reception. As a rookie, five of his 21 catches found the end zone, so he is a threat to score whenever he is on the field.

The Raiders 2021 roster is going to look a lot different, as they already plan on cutting Tyrell Williams, and have other moves to make to clear up cap space. In Moreau, they have a cheap, and talented option as the TE2 for the foreseeable future, and he is going to get his chance to shine in 2021.
