2021 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders land defensive star in full first-round mock
25. Jacksonville Jaguars (Via LA Rams) – CB Jaycee Horn, South Carolina
The Jaguars hired former Ravens defensive line coach Joe Cullen so fans can expect a change from the standard cover 3 scheme Jacksonville has been playing. If Cullen is anything like Ravens coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale, there could be a lot of blitzing with man coverage on the back end.
Baltimore has two of the better man coverage players in the league in Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peter, so the Jags could establish their own version.
They already have C.J. Henderson, who still has a ton of potential, and pairing him with Jaycee Horn could create a lockdown duo for years to come. Horn is a long and physical corner who is as confident as they come and competes on every down. He can be a little too physical at times but has all the traits of someone who can excel in a man coverage scheme.
26. Cleveland Browns – Edge Jaelan Phillips, Miami (FLA.)
When it comes to athleticism and physical traits, there may not be a better pass rusher in this draft than Miami’s Jaelan Phillips. The number one recruit in the nation coming out of high school, Phillip’s early career at UCLA was plagued by injuries to the point he retired for a little. However, after transferring to Maimi, everything came together for Phillips, and he showed all of his immense talents.
His speed and power combination makes it hard for tackles to get a clean hold of him, and he knows how to use his hands. With him on the opposite side of Myles Garrett, who is arguably the best in the league, the Browns could terrorize the AFC North.
27. Baltimore Ravens – WR Terrace Marshall Jr, LSU
The Ravens need to take their passing game to the next level, requiring more playmakers at wide receiver. Terrace Marshall Jr is a big pass-catcher with legit speed and will go up and make plays in traffic. He caught 25 of his 41 contested catches in two seasons at LSU, ad he provides versatility in the slot and on the outside.
Marshall and Marquise Brown would give the Ravens a serious ability to stretch the field, but Marshall can also work the field’s intermediate areas. He caught 12 of 17 targets from 10-19 yards and has the ability to make plays after the catch as well.
