3. Miami Dolphins (Via Houston Texans) – WR Ja’Marr Chase, LSU
Giving up on Tua Tagovailoa so early seems like a very knee-jerk reaction, so instead, the Dolphins should look to put more weapons around Tua to give him every chance to succeed. It has been a year since we’ve seen LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase play football, but no one has forgotten his talent.
The last time he was on the field, he was putting up numbers that were very comparable to the season we just saw Devonta Smith have. Chase is still the best overall receiver prospect in the draft and should be the first pass-catcher off the board. It could be tricky with Tua being a former teammate of Devonta Smith, but the Dolphins should take the better prospect in Chase.
4. Atlanta Falcons – QB Zach Wilson, BYU
Matt Ryan may still have some years left, but even if that’s the case, Atlanta may not have another chance to pick this high. It is better to get your future QB now, especially in a class with some excellent prospects at the position. Zach Wilson would bring a new dynamic to the Falcons while still running a traditional offense.
Wilson has incredible arm talent and excels at making plays off script when needed. According to PFF, Wilson had the best passing grade on tight-window throws, and only 13.6 of his passes beyond the line of scrimmage were uncatchable (also best in FBS). So this is not just a wild gunslinger; Wilson is throwing with accuracy and power.
5. Cincinnati Bengals – OT Penei Sewell, Oregon
It is as simple as this, Joe Burrow was sacked 32 times in only ten games during his rookie season, which still ranked ninth in the league. He also took over 70 hits, the last of which ended his season. The Bengals need to do everything in their power to address the offensive line issues. Perhaps it will be something that they hit heavy in free agency, but if they enter the draft still looking to upgrade, they will be in a prime position to do so.
Like Jamarr Chase, Penei Sewell decided to sit out the 2020 season, but his talent still demands he be the first tackle drafted. Sewell has unreal movement skills for someone that is 330 pounds. In his Oregon career, Sewell only allowed one sack, and although Pac-12 pass rushers aren’t the best college football has to offer, his skills seem like they will transfer over nicely to the NFL.
