Raiders: 10 cut candidates to keep an eye on

  • OG Kevin Zeitler, New York Giants
  • Cap savings if cut: $12 million

The New York Giants have $906,453 in cap space. If they want to re-sign Leonard Williams or Dalvin Tomlinson, they’ll have to sacrifice elsewhere.

Big Blue can clear significant cap space if they cut Kevin Zeitler. The 31-year-old saw a moderate slip in his performance in comparison to the previous season, which is also a reason for his potential release at a relatively expensive 2021 pay rate.

On the other hand, Zeitler can still start for most offensive lines across the league. He’s a solid guard in the run and pass protection who’s missed just one game since 2015.

Zeitler has logged almost all of his snaps on the right side, but he could play that position for the Raiders with Gabe Jackson back on the left side where he performed well through his first two years.

Typically, teams try to avoid shuffling offensive line personnel unless absolutely necessary, but the Raiders may shake up the five-man group after the unit struggled to open lanes for the ground attack in the second half of the 2020 season.
