Raiders: 10 cut candidates to keep an eye on

  • DT Malik Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
  • Cap savings if cut: $2 million (post-June 1 cut)

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson revealed that he’ll continue his career elsewhere in 2021 via Instagram (h/t NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo). The Athletic’s Bo Wulf shed light on two imminent moves:

As Malik Jackson’s time with the Eagles likely comes to an end, the Raiders can attempt to squeeze one or two solid seasons out of the 31-year-old.

Jackson’s production dipped after his 2017 Pro Bowl campaign, but he’s still active near the line of scrimmage. The nine-year veteran bounced back from a Lisfranc injury and suited up for 15 contests in 2020, logging 28 tackles, six for loss, 2.5 sacks and 18 quarterback pressures.

Like Jurrell Casey, Jackson could boost the Raiders’ interior pass rush at a low cost if the team strikes out on top-notch free agents at the position or simply cannot afford the biggest names on the open market. The battle-tested defensive tackle can handle a decent role playing 50 percent of the snaps while setting an example for a draft pick at the position.
