Raiders: 10 cut candidates to keep an eye on

  • Edge Von Miller, Denver Broncos
  • Cap savings if option declined: $18 million

Technically, Von Miller isn’t a potential cut. The Denver Broncos can decline his 2021 option, which would make him a free agent this offseason. Still, the result allows Vegas to sign him.

If Miller hits the open market, the Raiders would have to monitor an ongoing criminal investigation around him. The probe went underway in January, per Mike Klis and Kevin Vaughan of 9News.

In 2020, Miller didn’t play a down because of a dislocated peroneal tendon, which required surgery. He hadn’t missed more than a game in a single campaign since the 2013 term. At 31 years old, the three-time All-Pro could have a few good seasons left in the tank.

The last time we saw Miller on the field, he finished the 2019 term with eight sacks and ranked 12th leaguewide in quarterback pressures (37). Perhaps the future Hall of Famer goes through a slight decline going forward. Even so, he’s worth the risk at a lesser price than his current cap number.

As one of the best players in Broncos history, Miller would look odd suiting up for the Silver and Black, but we cannot rule out anything in business and competition.
