Las Vegas Raiders: 10 free agent running backs and their fit
Similar to Mike Davis, Wayne Gallman used an injury to a starter as a means to finally put his skills on display. After losing Saquon Barkley to an ACL tear, and Devonta Freeman to an ankle injury, Gallman stepped up and took the reins of the Giants’ running game.
He totaled 682 yards and six touchdowns on 147 carries in just ten games as a starter.
Gallman was not utilized very much in the passing game, as those duties fell to Dion Lewis, but he recorded 21 catches for 114 yards. He had no issues with ball security, though he did nearly fumble the game away against the Dallas Cowboys in a play worthy of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Still relatively young at 26, and with minimal wear on his tires, Gallman has shown that he has talent but is unlikely to get a starting job somewhere. He has however shown that he can handle a decent workload if given the opportunity, and will be a solid depth signing wherever he signs.
The former Clemson Tiger does not present any different dimensions to an offense or bring anything new to the table to make the Raiders chase him but he could be a solid if unspectacular backup in Las Vegas if given the chance.
