As the Las Vegas Raiders enter the 2021 free agency period, there is going to be a lot of talk in terms of who to spend money on, and who to not. Over the past few seasons, the Raiders have not been shy about giving out money, but based on the return, it looks like they have had more misses than hits.

After an 8-8 season that saw them finish outside of the NFL Playoffs once again, the Raiders have to push the right buttons to get this franchise out of neutral. Hopefully, fans will be back in the stands for the 2021 NFL season, which means Allegiant Stadium will be rocking next September, and a winning team must be put on the field.

Winning was the only thing that mattered to the late, great Al Davis, a man who loved this franchise, and did anything to make it a winner. His mantra, “Just Win Baby,” was a creed for this organization, and a Commitment to Excellence was the only thing that was tolerated.

To put a winner on the field, Davis spared no cost, and that is exactly what Amy Trask recently told FanSided.

Recently, Matt Lombardo from FanSided.com sat down with Trask to discuss several things, including how different franchises are going to prepare for another strange offseason. Of course, the discussion eventually turned to Al Davis, the trailblazing late owner of the Raiders, and his method in terms of signing players.

"“I worked for a team owner who was not afraid to overpay,” Trask told Lombardo. “Notwithstanding that he was castigated for doing so, when he did. I note this, because some teams may overpay, in the free market sense.”"

To actually make some noise in the AFC next season, the Raiders are going to have to fix a ton of issues on their roster, especially on defense. They must maneuver the salary cap to free up space to actually go out and get some playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, no matter what the cost is if they narrow in on a player they feel can make the difference.

If Raider Nation is allowed to invade Allegiant Stadium and make it their home this upcoming season, they are going to want to see their team smacking around their opponents. Winning on the field starts with Mayock and Gruden winning this offseason, and putting together a team Al would be proud of.
