Raiders and Seattle Seahawks: Trade No. 3

  • Seattle Receives: 2021 1st Round Pick, 2021 1st Round Pick (via NE), QB Marcus Mariota, 2022 6th Round Pick
  • Las Vegas Receives: QB Russell Wilson, 2021 4th Round Pick

This trade scenario involves Las Vegas making a previous trade with the New England Patriots as well. Before making this deal for Wilson, Gruden would trade Carr to New England to become Bill Belichick’s new quarterback and receive draft capital in return.

In turn, the Raiders would trade a 2021 1st Round pick from New England, as well as their own 2021 First Round pick. This would give Seattle the most flexibility to go in whatever future direction they choose after moving on from Wilson.

If they wanted to use a pick to choose their new quarterback, they could do so with one of these selections.

Also, the Seahawks are receiving Marcus Mariota from Las Vegas in this deal. Mariota could serve as a very capable bridge-type quarterback for Seattle while they develop a younger player or wait for their new franchise quarterback if that were the direction they chose to go into.

The Raiders would be parting ways with a lot of draft capital in this scenario. If they are as confident in their drafting ability as Mayock and Gruden seem to insinuate, this may not be the way they want to go. However, an improving record that would almost certainly be a result of acquiring Wilson, would theoretically devalue those draft selections.

The Raiders would have a lot of decisions to make if they were to go after Wilson, but there would be quite a bit of comfort in getting a quarterback, already with a ring on his finger, in return.
