Las Vegas Raiders 2021 7-round Mock: Alabama helps retool Front 7
The Silver and Black’s interior defensive line must generate pressure in 2021, given Gus Bradley’s tendency to not blitz. Plugging Alabama star Christian Barmore in the middle would go a long way to accomplish said pressure.
The six-foot-five and 310-pound defensive lineman truly impressed this past year at Alabama. In 11 games, Barmore racked up nine and a half tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, and three passes defended, an incredible stat line for someone who plays in the interior of the defensive line.
Adding a prospect that can not only rush the passer, but break up runs in the backfield would be monumental. Pro Football Focus graded Barmore’s pass rush at 91.5, with his run defense coming in at 71.7 for the 2020 season.
Getting an interior lineman early seems to be the consensus among fans and writers for the Raiders. However, more will be needed to turn around one of the worst defenses in Raiders history.
