Las Vegas Raiders: Will letting Agholor walk benefit Ruggs and Edwards?

Looking back at 2020

Last season, receivers Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards came into the year with a lot of hype around them, as Ruggs was selected in the first round, the first wideout taken. Bryan Edwards had the tape that got Raiders fans excited, as he was automatic during a record-setting career at the University of South Carolina.

Unfortunately, between injuries and a lack of targets, the two young receivers did not have the impact that many had hoped, as Ruggs ranked fifth on the team in targets behind Waller, Agholor, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs.

Edwards had a lot of injuries that held him back this season, and despite playing in 12 games, Edwards only recorded 11 catches for 193 yards and one touchdown. It is clear in games what wide receivers Derek Carr trusts, and outside of players like Waller and Renfrow, who Carr had already had a connection, the only new weapon that Carr seemed to be confident in was Agholor.

If the Raiders wide receiver group as a whole is going to take off, then Ruggs and Edwards need to be the main beneficiary of Agholor potentially walking in free agency. They have different skill sets, which makes them a perfect young tandem at the position group, but we are going to need to see much more in Year 2.
