Las Vegas Raiders: Will letting Agholor walk benefit Ruggs and Edwards?
So who benefits if Agholor leaves?
If Agholor leaves, Derek Carr is going to have to find another player to make a connection with, and it is going to have to be Ruggs or Edwards. Ruggs could be used pretty much the exact same way that Agholor was last year, as both receivers best trait is their speed.
If Agholor walks, I believe it may hurt the team, but it could benefit Ruggs and may force Jon Gruden to use him the right way.
I believe that as long as the Raiders do not bring in another veteran receiver, we will see a lot of Ruggs and Edwards out wide with Renfrow in the slot. Edwards could become the receiver that Carr trusts in the red zone with jump balls like he did a few years back with Michael Crabtree, but I believe that this could happen whether or not Agholor comes back.
The two receivers that the Agholor decision affects the most, however, will likely be Ruggs, in terms of how they use him, and Renfrow, as Agholor leaving will be one less target that Carr trusts, leading to him getting more targets and a bigger role.
Either way, Ruggs and Edwards need to be involved much more, as Henry Ruggs needs to become a WR1, and Bryan Edwards needs to become a trustworthy X Factor for the Raiders offense. Both receivers have a higher ceiling than Agholor and need to be able to show that whether he returns to the team or not.
