Nelson Agholor Is a Free-Agent “Priority?”

Despite offseason speculation, no one really knows how much wideout Nelson Agholor would cost on the open market. Pro Football Focus projected a two-year, $15 million deal.

The NFL hasn’t provided concrete salary-cap numbers. When teams find out those figures, front offices will begin to set budgets for free agency and ultimately set the market.

Nevertheless, the Raiders have Agholor high on their list of free-agent targets, per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

"“Agholor remains a priority, but anything is possible in free agency so the Raiders have to be flexible. Should Agholor leave, it allows for more opportunities for second-year receivers Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards, both of whom are liked by the Raiders and for whom big strides are expected in 2021.”"

Agholor quickly became one of Carr’s favorite targets this past season. He hauled in 48 passes for a career-high 896 yards and eight touchdowns. As the big-play receiver, the six-year veteran stretched the field and gave the offense a much-needed deep threat.

Yes, Agholor had some drops along the way, but Vegas needed his production with Tyrell Williams (torn labrum) on injured reserve and Ruggs’ underwhelming rookie campaign.

The Raiders officially cut Williams, so they still have a void at wide receiver unless Ruggs and Edwards take significant leaps next season.

On the open market, expect Agholor to cost around $10 million, give or take a $1 million either way. He’ll probably try to capitalize off arguably his best season.

The reported rumor about the Raiders’ interest in wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster could be a signal to Agholor that the team has another preferable option at a comparable price.
