6 best players who spent only one season with the Raiders

5. NaVorro Bowman – Oakland Raiders, 2017

NaVorro Bowman was not in the NFL for a very long time but he was one of the best linebackers in the league during his career. Bowman was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 3rd round of the 2010 NFL Draft and after a quiet rookie season, he would explode onto the scene as one of the most dominant players at his position.

In his second season, Bowman was not a Pro Bowler but was named First-Team All Pro and would earn that same honor in 4 out of 5 seasons from 2011 to 2015. A torn ACL and MCL would force him to miss the 2014 season but he came back with a vengeance in 2015 to once again be named First-Team All Pro.

Bowman would suffer another season-ending injury in 2016 with a torn Achilles tendon and he was never quite the same player after that. He started the 2017 season with the 49ers but was released and signed by the Raiders after San Francisco was unable to trade him.

In ten games with the Raiders, Bowman helped revitalize a struggling defense with 89 tackles, five tackles for loss, and the team’s first interception after 11 games. He stepped right into the leadership role on the Raiders defense but unfortunately was not brought back for the 2018 season.

After not finding another team to play for in 2018, Bowman chose to retire in 2019 after signing a one-day contract with the 49ers. Injuries ultimately derailed Bowman from having a truly legendary career but he was still one of the best defensive players at his position and a dominant force in the 2010s.
