6 best players who spent only one season with the Raiders

4. La’Roi Glover – Oakland Raiders, 1996

La’Roi Glover is an interesting case on this list because he is a rare player that spent just his rookie season with the Raiders before going on to an incredible career with three other teams. Glover was chosen in the 5th round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Raiders but would play just two games for them before being released.

Glover then went on to play spring football for the Barcelona Dragons of the World League of American Football, later renamed NFL Europe League, and lead them to a championship. That caught the eye of the New Orleans Saints and he would go on to spend five years with them, earning two Pro Bowl honors, and being named First Team All Pro in 2000 in a season where he had 17 sacks and 18 tackles for loss.

The Dallas Cowboys came calling after his years in New Orleans and he would go on to spend four years in Texas, earning another four Pro Bowl honors in his time there.  He would then spend the last three years of his career with the St. Louis Rams before retiring in 2008 after 13 years in the NFL.

Glover would finish his career with 83.5 sacks, 93 tackles for loss (since they started recording the stat in 1999), and 557 tackles. He made the Pro Bowl six times, was named either first or second team All Pro four times, NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 2000, and was named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.

Not bad for a fifth round pick that had to play in the NFL’s minor league before finding his place in the league.
