Raiders offensive breakout stars, 2021: Henry Ruggs III

With their pick of any wide receiver they wanted in a very deep wide receiver class, the Las Vegas Raiders made Alabama speedster Henry Ruggs III the first “Las Vegas” draft pick. Expected to come in and be the team’s WR1 right away, Ruggs struggled in Year 1, playing inconsistent football, but showing so much promise at times.

Of course, we will remember the game he had on the road against Kansas City, racking up 118 yards on three receptions with a score or his last-second touchdown against the New York Jets, but there just was not enough in 2020. Especially with players like Chase Claypool and Justin Jefferson dominating in Year 1, Ruggs season was seen as kind of a disappointment.

Luckily, Ruggs is loaded with talent, and now that his rookie season is in the books, and a possible normal offseason program is on the horizon, he can reach his full potential. For this offense to take another step forward, Ruggs has to be elite in 2021, and I believe he breaks out in a big way, going over 1,000 yards through the air.
