Raiders select DeVonta Smith at pick No. 17 overall

In the latest mock draft by CBS Sports, Josh Edwards likes the Raiders to land current Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith, who would apparently take a huge drop if he is selected by the Raiders at No. 17 overall. Smith is mocked by many to not only be a top-10 pick but for some, a top-5 pick, so this would be an incredible change of fortunes for him.

If Smith is there at No. 17, you have to seriously consider bringing him in, as that means the first round has been turned on its head. The more likely scenario is that the Raiders will address the wide receiver spot this year by bringing back Nelson Agholor, or possibly signing a veteran like JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Smith at No. 17? Not likely.

However, imagine a wide receiver group with both Ruggs and Smith on the outside, with Hunter Renfrow in the slot, and Bryan Edwards bringing some depth and red zone prowess. That would be an exciting, young group at the wide receiver position moving forward, and when you throw in Jacobs, that is a whole lot of Crimson Tide at the skill positions in Vegas.
