Las Vegas Raiders: One draft prospect to target from each top-25 program

LB. Tar Heels . Chazz Surratt. 18. player. 838.

The Raiders invested many resources in linebackers this past offseason, and the results were not ideal. With that being the case, they should not be afraid to look at linebackers in the draft and a guy like Chazz Surratt, a high upside player who could develop into a real difference-maker.

After playing quarterback most of his life, Surratt made a move to linebacker in 2019, and despite being extremely raw, he’s already flashing.

He has the perfect build for the modern athletic linebacker (6’2, 230lbs), and though he may not be great on day one, his rapid growth in only two years at the position is very promising. He won’t be your traditional run stuffer, but when asked to run and chase, Surratt plays fast and physically.

More importantly, he has the tools to drop in the zone and take on running backs or tight ends in man coverage. The Raiders are in desperate need of that type of player. It may take a year or two as he continues to learn the position, but Surratt could be that dynamic playmaker in the middle, which could really help turn this defense around.
