Las Vegas Raiders: One draft prospect to target from each top-25 program

Bobby Brown III. 4. player. 873. . DL. Aggies

It’s a bit crazy to think that a team competing for a College Football Playoff spot doesn’t have a ton of top NFL prospects, but that was the case with Texas A&M.

We’ve talked about the lack of interior pass rush the Raiders have been getting, but they weren’t much better against the run either. Las Vegas ranked in the bottom third in rushing yards allowed and opponent yards per rush, so they need to improve that as well.

Run-stuffing nose tackles aren’t a valued commodity, so the Raiders really shouldn’t be looking to address it with their early picks, but a Day 3 selection is definitely worth it. Bobby Brown III is that style of player, and he brings tremendous strength and length in the middle of the defense. He handles double teams very well and can be an anchor in the middle that allows others to thrive.

The issue with Brown is the lack of consistency that he has apparently shown throughout games. There are times where he looks like a great penetrating 1-tech and other times where his effort wanes. These are the flaws you’ll have to navigate with someone likely to be taken in the fourth round or later, but the best of Brown is a great run defender, which the Raiders need.
