Las Vegas Raiders: One draft prospect to target from each top-25 program
One of the biggest surprises in college football this year was the 11-1 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, and a huge part of their turnaround was the tremendous play of edge defender Tarron Jackson. Over the last two seasons, Jackson racked up 18 sacks, 26.5 TFLs, and 68 QB hurries.
That is elite production, however, when it comes to the NFL, you have to have a certain benchmark of athletic traits to be a great pass rusher, and it doesn’t appear that Jackson has that, and that is why he is considered more of a Day 3 prospect.
The Raiders need as much depth on the defensive line as possible, so a player like Jackson shouldn’t be ignored. He still showed to be a powerful and physical player with great know-how in hand usage. He has 33-inch arms, so despite only being 6’2, that length should help him a good amount.
The lack of burst and flexibility will probably keep him from being a starting-level pass rusher, but there’s no doubt he can stick around for a good while and be a solid depth player. Jackson may need to add a bit more weight, though, if he plans to a power rusher in the NFL.
