Las Vegas Raiders: 3 ways to replace RT Trent Brown
By CJ Errickson
If the Las Vegas Raiders want to utilize a proven veteran player at the right tackle position, such as Denzelle Good, there will be a void at one of the guard positions. Even if veteran guard Richie Incognito does return at age 37 (38 when the 2021 season starts), his time with the Raiders will be over sooner rather than later.
Backup guard John Simpson is a promising player entering his second season, but he will have to improve to become a reliable starter at the NFL level. It would be wise for the Silver and Black to invest in a plug-and-play starter on the offensive line’s interior moving forward, and they need to look no further than former Alabama Crimson Tide All-American Landon Dickerson in the second round.
Dickerson is a bonafide leader of men that head coach Nick Saban highly praised for his leadership. He is also a player that projects favorably in gap/man/power blocking schemes and is a technician that never quits on a play. This scenario enables the Raiders to add a top-tier defender in the first round, while still addressing the offensive line with their 48th overall pick in the second round.
Additionally, Dickerson ensures stability and versatility on the offensive line’s interior while Las Vegas rides with veteran Denzelle Good at right tackle until a long-term solution is achieved. As a bonus, Dickerson could be a more than suitable replacement for center Rodney Hudson in the future. The Raiders have numerous ways to address the offensive line this offseason; it is up to them not to overlook the team’s other needs in the process.
