Desmond King II could provide depth at cornerback and special teams

A possible choice here could be Jadeveon Clowney at defensive end, but the jury is still out on if he can still be a productive player in the NFL after his recent injury woes. WR Corey Davis is another option, but the Raiders should be set at receiver if they can bring back Nelson Agholor after his great first season in Las Vegas.

So that leaves us with a player that has reached great heights in the NFL with a First-Team All-Pro season in 2018 but has not been able to recreate that magic in Desmond King II. The former Charger was traded to Tennessee in 2020 after six games and was somewhat productive on a defense that struggled to consistently get stops.

The Titans were one of the worst teams in the NFL at rushing the passer and that hurt their defensive backs, including King. He was still able to record a 65.5 PFF grade which is decent considering Tennessee’s struggles in creating pressure.

King did little for the Titans on special teams, but he has shown that he can be a dangerous return man with two punt return touchdowns during his time with the Chargers.

This is a signing that would be quite under the radar but it would give the Raiders some much-needed depth at the cornerback position. King would not push either of the Raiders outside corners for their starting spots but he could compete with Amik Robertson to replace Lamarcus Joyner as the slot corner.

If the money is right then King could be a great value signing who has experience of playing under Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley so the transition could be almost seamless.
