3 Northwestern Wildcats the Raiders should target in 2021 NFL Draft

Greg Newsome II, Cornerback

A few weeks back, our CJ Errickson spoke at length about cornerback Greg Newsome II, an incredibly talented defensive back for the Wildcats. Newsome showed out at his Pro Day in front of Mayock, cementing his place as at least a second-round draft pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

For the Raiders, he would be another young player to add to the position group this upcoming season, and possibly someone who could come in and start right away. Las Vegas has a solid option at one corner spot in Trayvon Mullen, but Damon Arnette struggled as a rookie, and the jury is still out on whether or not he will be a bust.

Newsome is a guy who has been rumored to be one of the first cornerbacks taken after the likes of Caleb Farley and Patrick Surtain II, so the Silver and Black may have to go up and get him in the second round. This is a position group that continues to be an issue when it comes to this Raiders roster, and in Newsome, they get a physically gifted, physical corner who is not only solid in coverage but has no problem coming up and hitting someone.
