Las Vegas Raiders pre-free agency 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft
The Raiders made a few additions to their interior defensive line last offseason like Maliek Collins and Daniel Ross, but neither made much of an impact despite some considerable fanfare in camp. The potential loss of Johnathan Hankins to free agency reaffirms defensive tackle as a massive need for the Raiders coming into the 2021 season.
Marlon Tuipulotu is a three-year starter from USC who looks to be a perfect fit for the Raiders 4-3 scheme and could be a steal for the Silver and Black. Tuipulotu played in just one game his freshman year before injury forced him to take a redshirt season.
He came back as a redshirt freshman in 2018 and became a regular starter for the Trojans.
In 29 games as a starter, Tuipulotu recorded 104 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and 8.5 sacks. These numbers would be impressive for a defensive end much less an interior defensive lineman. Tuipulotu’s ability to rush the passer from the interior alone makes him an intriguing prospect but he is rated as one of the best run defenders in the draft as well.
The former Trojan had a great showing at the Senior Bowl and was dominant in individual drills, showcasing his athleticism to pair with his impressive size at 6’3″, 305lbs. He may not last until the fourth round but if he does stick around he would be an incredible value for the Raiders with a pick this late.
