Las Vegas Raiders: AFC North 2021 free agents to ‘steal’

Yannick Ngakoue would bring some firepower to the Raiders pass rush

We have covered Yannick Ngakoue’s strange 2020 season at some length here as he has been a target of the Raiders since last offseason. He started the season on the Minnesota Vikings after being traded from Jacksonville but was traded once again after six games to the Baltimore Ravens.

Being on three teams in a calendar year would make anyone’s head spin but Ngakoue was still a productive player for both Minnesota and Baltimore in his limited time there. Ngakoue finished the season with 8 sacks, 5 in 6 games with Minnesota and 3 in 9 games with Baltimore after he arrived prior to Week 8.

The former Jaguar is a talented pass rusher with 45.5 sacks and 96 QB hits in 78 career games and is still in his prime at 26 years old. He also has experience in Gus Bradley’s system from his rookie season in Jacksonville where he recorded 8 sacks, 14 QB hits, and 6 tackles for loss despite playing just 66% of the team’s snaps.

The Raiders have been looking for a top tier pass rusher for a few years now and Ngakoue fills that need. His age and durability, along with his talent, make him a piece that the Raiders can build around for the foreseeable future.
