Las Vegas Raiders: AFC North 2021 free agents to ‘steal’
Larry Ogunjobi could be a rotational defensive lineman
The Raiders current roster looks quite thin at defensive tackle with Maliek Collins and Johnathan Hankins both on the free agent market. Both players were on the field for many of the Raiders’ defensive snaps and need to be replaced, which is where Larry Ogunjobi comes in.
Ogunjobi was third round pick of the Cleveland Browns out of Charlotte in 2017 and while he has not blown anyone away with his play, he has been a solid rotational player so far. Over 60 games, Ogunjobi has recorded 180 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 37 QB hits, and 29 tackles for loss.
Again, these are not eye-popping statistics but they are very solid for a player that you would expect on the field for 60-70% of the defensive snaps. Measuring in at 6’3″, 305lbs Ogunjobi is not quite as stout as Hankins but he has plenty of athletic ability as evidenced by his 4.97 40 coming out of college.
Signing Ogunjob would not dominate any of the headlines but having productive defensive lineman like him in the rotation is one of the keys to success in the NFL. The Raiders struggled massively with their interior pass rush and he can provide some help there, especially if a talented pass rusher is brought in as well.
