Raiders FA fits on Day 2 of legal tampering
CB Richard Sherman
We now turn our attention to the defensive side of the ball, where the Raiders have to get better on all three levels this offseason. On Monday, they got better upfront in a big way, adding a talented edge rusher in Yannick Ngakoue, widely regarded as one of the better pass rushers available in free agency this year.
With Cory Littleton coming back, and hopefully playing better under a new defensive coordinator, as well as Nick Kwiatkoski, the linebacker group is only missing a piece or two. If they can bring Nicholas Morrow back, and Tanner Muse can step up in Year 2, that is a position group they can afford not to spend big on.
The secondary, however, is another issue, and I like the Raiders to bring in a veteran like Richard Sherman during the legal tampering period to bolster a very young, but a talented unit. Trayvon Mullen has proven he can play at a high level, but Damon Arnette struggled mightily as a rookie, and it may be worth it to bring in Sherman on a two-year deal to start opposite Mullen while allowing guys like Arnette and Isaiah Johnson more time to develop.
