Before the new league year started, the Las Vegas Raiders started bringing back their own free agents, which will now begin to fill out the roster.

The Las Vegas Raiders shocked their fan base when they apparently released Rodney Hudson on Tuesday, as he was seen as a cornerstone of their team moving forward. However, as news came out that he asked to be released, it begged the question on whether or not players really wanted to play for this franchise.

Well, on Wednesday, just before the new league year started, the Raiders began bringing back their own free agents, as they agreed to deals with Denzelle Good, Zay Jones, and Johnathan Hankins. All three of these figure to play a role in the team’s plans in 2021, and they all give the Raiders talent at major areas of need.

As the roster starts to take shape, a lot of the excitement from Tuesday has shifted to the positive.

Raiders bringing back talent on both sides of the ball

Hankins was one of the better defenders on this team last season, and with he and Nicholas Morrow returning, those are solid building blocks who know this organization well. On offense, Good is going to slide into a starting job, and Jones will be apart of the depth at wide receiver, so while not headline-grabbing signings, these were guys the franchise should have brought back.

As we inch closer to the new league year, there is going to be a lot of noise coming out of Henderson, Nevada, and for once, it was good signings by the franchise on Wednesday. There is still a lot of cap space left to play with, and a lot of talent available still, so Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are nowhere close to done making moves.

With Good back in the fold, the Raiders are starting to rebuild their offensive line, and there is a chance that Richie Incognito comes back on a team-friendly deal. While it looked Tuesday that players were heading for the hills, one thing Wednesday showed was that guys were not only willing to come back, but for solid deals for the organization in terms of the salary cap.
