The Raiders badly need a safety that can play well in coverage and not leave their zone or let receivers run by them, and Richie Grant could be exactly what the Raiders are looking for. Although he does not have incredible speed, Grant does a good job of closing in on passes, makes good reads, and is a great tackler.

Grant, who was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, had a great showing at the Senior Bowl, something that Mayock and Gruden hold a lot of weight to. If Grant is available at 48, the Raiders should make a move for him.

We have already seen how much the Raiders struggle in the secondary, and despite making improvements up and down their roster so far, safety has been left alone. Grant is a guy who can come and start opposite Johnathan Abram right away, as the team continues to try and bolster that side of the ball
