The Las Vegas Raiders had a whirlwind first day of the new league year on Wednesday, adding players and draft picks along the way.
After a busy day of trades and signings, the Las Vegas Raiders are looking to go into 2021 with a much different roster, while saving money and adding draft capital.
With rumors flying around about the Raiders releasing Rodney Hudson and Gabe Jackson, Raiders fans wondered why the team would not try to trade the players and get something out of them. Turns out, the team never officially released these players, as the Raiders were able to add a third-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals and a fifth-round pick from the Seattle Seahawks while losing a seventh-round pick in the process.
Although the team has mostly dismantled their offensive line, they have been able to do a better job of keeping more players around than anticipated yesterday, as Raiders fans can take a deep breath after Tuesday’s fiasco.
Although the Raiders were able to keep Denzelle Good and Richie Incognito, there are still holes to fill at center and right tackle without two of the best players in the league at those positions.
Las Vegas now has eight picks in the draft. The picks are as followed.
Raiders list of 2021 NFL Draft picks
Round 1, Pick No. 17
Round 2, Pick No. 48
Round 3, Pick No. 79 (ARI)
Round 3, pick No. 80
Round 4, Pick No. 121
Round 5, Pick No. 162 (MIA)
Round 5, Pick No. 167 (SEA)
As we head into Thursday’s action, there are certain to be a lot more moves made by Las Vegas. Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are trying to build up a strong team within a tough salary cap this year, and the hope is that they can push the right buttons and finally get this team over the hump in terms of the playoff race next season.
