815. . Cornerback. Sooners . Tre Brown. 162. player

With the 162nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, we have the Las Vegas Raiders selecting cornerback Tre Brown from the University of Oklahoma. Brown has been an outside cornerback for his entire career with the Sooners and has plenty of experience having played in 51 games in 4 years.

The Tulsa native became a starter after his freshman season and has been a productive player as he racked up 141 tackles, 31 passes defended, 2 sacks, and 4 interceptions. He is a bit undersized at 5’10”,186lbs, and may not be cut out to be a starter on the outside but he can transition to being a nickel or slot cornerback.

Scouting reports suggest that he is not afraid of mixing things up and can play bigger than his size at the line of scrimmage. His speed may be his best asset however as he ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash at his pro day and could contribute immediately as a special teams ace.

This is a similar story to what the Raiders may have had in mind when they selected Amik Robertson in the 2020 draft and they can bring Brown along slowly. Defensive back has long been a concern for the Raiders, especially the depth at that position group, and Brown could help fill that need.
