Las Vegas Raiders: Top position needs entering Week 2 of 2021 free agency

Free Safety

The safety position is still one that is worrisome when it comes to this Raiders roster, as the team currently has one long-term solution in Johnathan Abram. For some, that is even a more worrisome situation, as Abram struggled mightily in what was essentially his rookie season in 2020, and the jury is still out as to what kind of player he is going to be for this franchise.

Next to Abram next season is a toss-up right now, as the Raiders do not currently have someone to play free safety on this roster. Sure, Jeff Heath is a solid depth player, but the team got rid of Erik Harris, and there are not many safeties still out there as guys like Justin Simmons and Marcus Maye have decided to stay put.

A player like Tre Boston would be a nice fit in Las Vegas, as he has a past with current defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, but this is a position that is starting to trend in the direction of the 2021 NFL Draft. Some good Day 2 safeties should be available, but rolling into next season with Abram and a rookie at safety is enough to make a Raiders fan sweat.
