2021 NFL Draft: 5 Non-first round CBs for Las Vegas Raiders to target

If things had gone a little differently for Kelvin Joseph he may be looked at as a top-15 pick rather than as a day 2 or day 3 steal in the upcoming draft. Joseph started his career at LSU in 2018 and was just a rotational player but showed plenty of flashes of his versatility and talent.

Before the Tigers’ 2018 bowl game, Joseph was suspended for an undisclosed violation and ended up transferring to the University of Kentucky. After sitting out the 2019 season, Joseph started 9 games for the Wildcats and was one of their best defensive players with 25 tackles and 4 interceptions including one returned for a touchdown.

Joseph’s production and physical profile at 6’1″,192lbs make him a solid prospect that is quickly moving up NFL draft boards. He is now being considered a round 2-3 pick by many experts and could solidify that projection with a great performance at Kentucky’s upcoming pro day.

The concerns around Joseph are around his level of maturity after being suspended by LSU and the lack of experience as a starting cornerback. Teams could choose to overlook the lack of experience and a lengthy interview process could alleviate concerns around maturity if Joseph can prove his time at LSU was an aberration and not the trend.
