2021 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders trade down in 7-round mock

  • Trade: GB send picks # 29, 62, 135, & 214 to LV for #17 & 79

player. 819. . OT. Fighting Irish . Liam Eichenberg. 29

The Green Bay Packers need a wide receiver to pair with Davante Adams, and with DeVonta Smith dropping, they make a move to trade up from pick 29 to 17 in the simulation. This trade gives the Raiders more draft capital to address areas of need.

The Raiders are in the midst of a massive overhaul on the offensive line, and right tackle will be a significant need going into draft night. Notre Dame’s Liam Eichenberg does not have the athletic upside of some of the other top tackles in this draft, but he may have one of the highest floors.

A three-year starter, Eichenberg did not allow a single sack in over 1,600 snaps in 2019 & 2020. This is even more impressive when you consider how long QB Ian Book would hold on to the ball and scramble at times.

Despite those impressive stats, he may do his best work in the run game. The Fighting Irish had one of the most productive rushing attacks in college football, and Eichenberg was a considerable part. If you want to see a display of his toughness, go look up his performance against Florida State this past season.

Eichenberg suffered a blow to the face which led to massive swelling in his left eye, but he continued to play and helped Notre Dame rush for over 300 yards and eight yards per rush. If the Raiders are looking for someone who can come in on day one and contribute, Eichenberg is a very safe bet.
