2021 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders trade down in 7-round mock

. Edge. Commodores . Dayo Odeyingbo. 167. player. 887

Investment in the defensive line needs to be a yearly ritual for the Raiders on the draft weekend until we see significant improvements within that unit. I could easily see the Raiders going after a pass rusher earlier in the draft, but in this situation, the value just wasn’t there.

Versatility has been a big theme of this draft haul, and it only continues with Vanderbilt’s Dayo Odeyingbo. Amid a dreadful 0-9 season for the Commodores, Odeyingbo was an apparent bright spot as he lined up all over the field and displayed legit explosiveness off the snap at 276 lbs.

Odeyingbo’s stock took a significant hit after tearing his Achilles during the pre-draft workouts, so he will be a draft and stash player, but the risk is worth it this late in the draft.

Outside of Clelin Ferrell, the Raiders don’t have a player with inside/outside versatility as a pass rusher. If the Raiders can get a healthy Odeyingbo a year from now, they will be getting an absolute steal that could significantly impact the future.
