Raiders 2020 fourth-round picks

  • John Simpson: Round 4, Pick 109
  • 2021: Same

John Simpson was one player that I was not only happy with when they drafted him but looks like he has the potential to be a good player. Simpson was a starting lineman on one of the best offenses in college football, playing against the top talent in the country, and showed flashes during his time as a rookie.

I believe Simpson likely would have gone around the same spot in the 2021 draft, and based on the Raiders’ current depth, it is a good thing the team selected him when they did.

  • Amik Robertson- Round 4 Pick 129
  • 2021: Same

Immediately after the draft, Amik Robertson was my favorite pick of the draft, and it appeared that way for a big part of Raider Nation. Robertson was impressive in college and filled a need that we had in the slot.

We did not see much of Robertson for the Raiders last season, but I believe he could be a big piece for the defense in the future. In 2021, I believe Robertson would go in a similar spot. This cornerback class is a bit deeper than the 2020 class, but I think Robertson would fall in about the same spot.

It remains to be seen what the Raiders will get out of this draft class, but as we have seen in the past, like Kolton Miller, players can flip the switch after Year 1. For the Raiders to take the next step forward, and possibly a playoff berth, this group will have to be better in their second season.
