NFL Mock Draft: How Jets’ Sam Darnold trade impacts Las Vegas Raiders at No. 17
With pick No. 17 overall, the Las Vegas Raiders land their new right tackle, bringing in Teven Jenkins from Oklahoma State. As we mentioned in our 7-round mock this weekend, Jenkins would be an excellent fit in Las Vegas, teaming with Kolton Miller to form a dominant, young duo at the offensive tackle spots.
It has been a crazy offseason for this Raiders offensive line, trading away sixty percent of their starters from Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season. By drafting Jenkins, they begin to build that stability once again, and he has proven that he is one of the nastiest offensive tackles available this draft cycle.
By drafting Jenkins, the Raiders fix one of their last issues on offense and then turn their attention to the defense on Day 2.
Of course, many things will happen before the 2021 NFL Draft actually takes place, and there could be several moves made during the first round before the Raiders even pick. For Las Vegas, no matter who is picked before they go at No. 17, they cannot afford to miss here, as it could spell the end for Mike Mayock as general manager.
