Las Vegas Raiders: Maxx Crosby stands behind Derek Carr

The Las Vegas Raiders will go into the 2021 season with Derek Carr as their starting quarterback, and Maxx Crosby is more than fine with that.

The Las Vegas Raiders have no question when it comes to the quarterback spot, as Derek Carr will enter his eighth season as the starter for the franchise. Since Jon Gruden arrived, Carr has put up the best numbers of his career, but he has yet to make the playoffs in that time and has led this team to a playoff only once.

That year, Carr broke his leg in Week 16, and could not play in the matchup against the Houston Texans, which the Raiders lost with Connor Cook under center. His lack of wins and playoff appearances has made him a pariah for a part of the fan base, but it seems that his teammates, specifically Maxx Crosby, feel he is the right guy to lead this team in 2021.

On Thursday, Raider Posts tweeted out some quick information about the veteran quarterback, and Crosby was quick to agree.

It is no big secret that Carr’s teammates like him, though the narrative in the media is often that he is the reason people want to get away from this franchise. Carr has always come across as a solid teammate, and for one of the best players on the team to take the time to comment on this tweet, it shows how he thought about it in the locker room.

Raiders looking to make first playoff since 2016 season

If the Raiders hope to get back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season, and only the second time since the 2002 campaign, they are going to need big seasons from both Carr and Crosby once again. Last year, Crosby had seven of the team’s 21 sacks, which equates to 33 percent, while Carr once again threw for over 4,000 yards under Jon Gruden.

Stats are thrown out when it comes to Carr, who is the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. For Raider Nation, Carr needs to lead this team to the playoffs, and hopefully, with Crosby’s help, he can accomplish that in Year 8 this season.
