The safety position is definitely still an issue for the Raiders, and they could very well use one of their first two picks on the position group, getting Trevon Moehrig in the first round, or even a player like Andre Cisco or Jevon Hollan in the second to name a few. However, if they wait until the third round, there are still options available, as Hamsah Nasirildeen was still there in our latest mock draft.

The then-Oakland Raiders used a first-round pick on Johnathan Abram back in 2019, and he has yet to become a trusted piece of this secondary through two injury-riddled, and inconsistent seasons. Still, he will be counted on to be the team’s strong safety in Gus Bradley’s defense, which means their starting free safety has to come via the draft, or in free agency.

Karl Joseph visited the Raiders this past week, and he is a guy who could come in and start alongside Abram this upcoming season. Still, outside of Jeff Heath, there is very little depth at the safety position, and if the Raiders do not bring one in via free agency, two could be selected in this year’s draft.
