Las Vegas Raiders: 3 potential first-round prospects who could fall to No. 48

Terrace Marshall Jr. – WR, LSU

The wide receiver class is deep this year with talent, and we’ve learned from the past few drafts that there are always a few who fall to the second round a become stars. LSU’s Terrace Marshall Jr could be that player in this year’s class. A tall receiver (6’3), Marshall is a versatile player who lined up outside most of his career before transitioning to the slot in 2020. And with the loss of both Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, Marshall picked up the slack on a depleted LSU offense.

Marshall has legit speed (4.38 at pro day) to go along with that height, and in 2020 he was 6/8 on passes 20+ yards down the field with four touchdowns. He also won 25 of his 41 contested-catch situations in the last two seasons, according to PFF. Then to top it off, he has a nose for the endzone with 23 career touchdowns.

Besides being part of a very talented draft, some other things may drop Marshal down into day 2. The biggest being his issues with drops in the short to intermediate areas of the field. Those things will drive coaches crazy and could be a turn-off for some teams, at least when it comes to the first round. He also isn’t the most polished route runner at the moment.

For the Raiders, Marshall could turn the Raiders into one of the most explosive offenses in the league. His ability to win down the field could put Henry Ruggs into a role where he attacks the short to intermediate parts of the field like he did in college.

Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman is also a wide receiver that could fall into the second round for Las Vegas.
