Ranking the Las Vegas Raiders draft needs heading into the 2021 NFL Draft

3. Cornerback

As is the case every season it seems, the Las Vegas Raiders are once again thin when it comes to the cornerback position. Sure, the second-round pick from 2019 Trayvon Mullen is a nice piece and has stepped up in his first two seasons in the Silver and Black, but outside of him, everything else is a mystery.

There are things to like about Isaiah Johnson, including his size and coverage skills, but we have not seen enough of him across his first few seasons to name him an answer at the position group. With Lamarcus Joyner gone, the hope is that Amik Robertson can step in and be the slot corner for the Raiders this upcoming season, but that is another question mark for the team heading into the draft.

The truth is if an elite prospect is still available at No. 17, and they play the cornerback position, the Raiders may need to use a first-round pick on the position group for the second year in a row. Guys like Caleb Farley, Jaycee Horn, and Greg Newsome would be excellent additions to this defensive backfield, and all three could be available when it is time for the Raiders to turn in their card.
