Las Vegas Raiders pre-2021 NFL Draft position review: Cornerback

Starters: Travyon Mullen, Damon Arnette, Amik Robertson

If you thought the Raiders were young at corner last year, 2021 might be even worse. This is the current depth chart based on assumptions of course as no official depth chart has been released, but if the Raiders do indeed roll with Travyon Mullen, Damon Arnette, and Amik Robertson as the starters, they might well have the youngest CB trio in the league.

Mullen was good in spurts last year but struggled with consistency and needs to improve to become a true shutdown corner. Arnette showed he wasn’t scared of contact at the NFL level but he struggled with injury and COVID issues which kept him in and out of the lineup and hampered his development. Hopefully a full offseason and a year without having to deal with his broken thumb will lead to some much needed improvement.

Amik Robertson is the real wildcard as he looked absolutely lost in cameo appearances at nickelback, but that is to be expected considering he was exclusively an outside corner in college. There is a learning curve to playing primarily in the slot and again, we have to hope that a full offseason will help him with that progression.

It is safe to say that Mullen is locked in at that starting role but Arnette and Robertson will have to battle for their starting places with a couple of veterans the Raiders brought back and brought in this offseason.
